Norwegian Foreign Minister: We want a complete Palestinian state that includes the West Bank and Gaza

"We want a complete Palestinian state that includes the West Bank and the Gaza Strip," Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide said on Saturday.

This came in statements made by Barth Eide during a dialogue session on conflict resolution at the opening of the Doha Forum 2024.

The Norwegian Foreign Minister added: "Ensuring that Israel lives in peace with its neighbors will only be achieved by establishing a Palestinian state."

Barth Eide reiterated the "necessity of implementing the two-state solution principle."

The Norwegian minister believes that "reaching a major peace agreement in the Middle East is possible, but it must be done in coordination with Palestine."

He said: "It is not one conflict, but there is a fundamental conflict linked to all these conflicts, which is the absence of a solution to the Palestinian issue."

Earlier on Saturday, the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, inaugurated the 22nd edition of the Doha Forum 2024, under the slogan “The Inevitability of Innovation,” at the Sheraton Doha Hotel this morning.

The Doha Forum 2024 will continue for two days under the slogan “The Inevitability of Innovation” at the Sheraton Doha Hotel, with the participation of a number of heads of state, heads of government, and regional and international organizations.

This year’s edition, which examines current challenges and global transformations in politics, economics, security and technology, will see the participation of more than 4,500 participants from more than 150 countries, and more than 300 speakers, including 7 heads of state, 7 heads of government, and 15 foreign ministers, according to official information.

With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving more than 150,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.

Israel continues its massacres, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution to end them immediately, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.

On Tuesday, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution calling for an end to Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

Anadolu Agency correspondent reported that Senegal submitted the draft resolution on the two-state solution and the peace process in the Middle East, with the participation of countries including Turkey, for a vote in the United Nations General Assembly, which includes 193 countries.

The draft resolution was adopted with the support of 157 countries, while 8 countries objected, most notably the United States, Israel and Argentina, and 7 countries abstained from voting.
