Israeli estimates: Iran may launch hundreds of ballistic missiles
The Israeli Broadcasting Authority said that Iran may launch hundreds of ballistic missiles at Israel in response to the damage to its missile capabilities, according to the authority, while a dispute is emerging between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant.
The authority quoted sources as saying that Israel has a desire to end the direct confrontation with Iran.
As for the Israeli Channel 14, it stated that Israeli intelligence estimates indicate an Iranian desire to respond to the recent Israeli strike and that Israel is preparing for it.
Last Saturday morning, Israel carried out its attack on Iran, which it said was in response to the attack launched by Tehran against it in early October, which led to explosions in 3 Iranian cities.
The Wall Street Journal quoted an Israeli official as saying that Israel attacked Iran with F-35 fighters, which are skilled at evading radars, and it also quoted him as saying that all air defense systems in Iran have become out of service.
The Hebrew Walla website quoted Israeli sources as saying that the Israeli attack on Iran caused significant damage to an important component in the solid fuel production system necessary for manufacturing ballistic missiles, and harmed Tehran's ability to renew its stock of ballistic missiles for a year.
The Walla website also indicated that the attack also targeted a drone production plant, and four S-300 air defense batteries that were designated to protect nuclear and energy facilities in Iran, and also targeted a facility in the city of Perchin where nuclear weapons research and development were conducted, according to the website.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation published images that it said were taken by satellite of the Israeli strike on the Parchin and Khojir areas in Iran.
Signals before the attack
In Iran, the Iranian Foreign Minister said that Tehran received signals on Friday afternoon that Israel might launch an attack.
Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei described the Israeli attack on his country as an evil step, and said that officials will determine how to demonstrate the strength and will of the people, and that Israel must correct its miscalculations.
At the same time, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in a letter he addressed to him to hold an urgent meeting of the Security Council.
For his part, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stressed that his country would respond "appropriately to the Zionist entity's aggression against our lands."
However, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin was quick to warn Iran against responding to the recent Israeli strikes.
Austin said in a post on his X account, "Iran should not make the mistake of responding to the Israeli strikes, which should represent an end to this exchange."
Israeli assessments
For his part, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Herzi Halevi, said that the attack launched by the Israeli army on Iran damaged strategic systems in Iran, considering that Israel had only used part of its military capabilities, according to his expression.
Announcement
This came during a meeting held by Halevi with a number of military officials to assess the security situation after the attack launched by the Israeli army on Iran.
As for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he said that the Israeli attack on Iran was accurate and achieved all of its goals.
This came hours before a scheduled meeting of the security cabinet to discuss Iran's possible response to the attack.
Netanyahu and Galant's differences
Meanwhile, the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that shortly before the Israeli attack on Iran, Defense Minister Yoav Galant harshly criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and government ministers, telling them in a letter that the war was being waged without a compass.
The newspaper added that Netanyahu's office responded to Galant and said that his letter was very confusing and that there was only one compass, which was the goals of the war as determined by the cabinet.
In a related context, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority said that Netanyahu conveyed a message to his Haredi coalition partners stating that Galant's dismissal from his position would be possible after the attack on Iran.
