Israel begins a new military operation in Jabalia and commits a massacre in Deir al-Balah

A journalist was killed and dozens of others were injured in Israeli military operations in the Jabalia area in the northern Gaza Strip, which the occupation said aimed to "eliminate an armed infrastructure." This came after a new massacre by the occupation in Deir al-Balah, in which more than 20 Palestinians were killed, in addition to the killing and injury of Palestinians in the bombing of schools housing displaced persons in the central Gaza Strip.

The occupation army said that its forces had completed the encirclement of the Jabalia area in Gaza, adding that the 162nd Division had been transferred from the Rafah area to Jabalia after completing its mission in the south.

For its part, the Israeli Army Radio said that the 162nd Division stormed Jabalia and began working against the attempts of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) to rebuild in the area.

The occupation army had previously penetrated the eastern areas of Jabalia camp and Jabalia al-Balad, amid artillery shelling of residential areas in Jabalia al-Balad, and drones fired at homes in Jabalia camp, according to what Al Jazeera's correspondent reported.

The reporter said that journalist Hassan Hamad was martyred after his house was targeted in an occupation bombing of Jabalia camp.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, which investigates all reports of the killing, injury and disappearance of journalists and media workers, data and statistics show that this war has become the deadliest for journalists since the committee began its work in 1992.

Jabalia camp is one of the largest Palestinian refugee camps in the Gaza Strip. It was established adjacent to the town of Jabalia after thousands of Palestinians were displaced from villages and cities in southern Palestine following the Nakba in 1948.

For its part, local media reported that the occupation army shelled the Al-Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City, with artillery, coinciding with the firing of occupation vehicles in the vicinity of the university college, south of Gaza City.

Anadolu Agency reported that the eastern and western areas of the northern Gaza Strip witnessed intense Israeli shelling, the most violent in 5 months, targeting inhabited homes.

The agency reported that this bombing caused a wave of displacement of citizens towards Gaza City and its center, coinciding with the sound of Israeli vehicles being heard near the western and eastern borders of the northern governorate.
