South Africa prepares hundreds-page volume on its case against Israel

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced that his country will next month submit a "thousands-page volume" of facts and evidence to support its genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

"We are resolute," Ramaphosa told reporters when asked about the case, stressing his determination "to move forward with our case," noting that South Africa is due to submit a statement of facts and evidence to the court next month to support the case.

The South African president added that preparations are underway to present it, "and it is a huge volume of hundreds and hundreds of pages." He continued, "We continue to say that the genocide must stop, there must be a ceasefire, and similarly, there must be a return of the hostages."

At the end of last December, South Africa resorted to the International Court of Justice, and filed a complaint accusing Israel of violating the 1948 UN Convention on the Prevention of Genocide in its attack on the Gaza Strip. Several countries joined it, including Colombia, Libya, Mexico, Spain and Turkey.
