Half a million Israelis demonstrate in Tel Aviv to pressure Netanyahu's government
Hundreds of thousands of Israelis demonstrated in Tel Aviv on Saturday evening for the eighth consecutive day to pressure Benjamin Netanyahu's government to reach a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and conclude a prisoner exchange deal.
Israeli estimates indicated that more than half a million demonstrators participated in the central demonstration in Tel Aviv, and tens of thousands demonstrated in other protests organized near Netanyahu's home in Caesarea, in Haifa, Rehovot, Route 4, and the Karkur Junction, in addition to dozens of Israeli sites and towns.
Protesters closed several roads, burned tires, and clashed with Israeli police, demanding the overthrow of Netanyahu's government.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, the occupying power, has been waging a devastating war of extermination on the Gaza Strip, leaving more than 135,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing, amid massive destruction and deadly famine.
In contempt of the international community, Israel continues the war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate halt, and the International Court of Justice’s orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza.
