Israel has arrested 10,400 Palestinians from the West Bank since October 7

Prisoners' institutions said that the Israeli occupation forces have arrested 10,400 citizens from the West Bank since October 7, including 725 children, 400 women, and 98 journalists.

The prisoners’ institutions, the Commission of Prisoners’ Affairs and Freed Prisoners, the Prisoners’ Club, and the Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association, explained that 400 women were arrested. (This statistic includes women who were arrested from the 1948 territories, and cases of arrest among women from Gaza who were arrested from the West Bank.) This data does not include the number of women who were arrested from Gaza, whose number is estimated in the dozens.

She pointed out that the number of cases of arrest among children in the West Bank amounted to no less than (725), while the number of cases of arrest among journalists since the beginning of the war of extermination amounted to (98) journalists, of whom (52) remain in detention, including (6) female journalists, and (17) journalists from Gaza at least whose identities we were able to verify, and among the journalists (15) are under administrative detention.

The number of administrative detention orders since the beginning of the war of extermination has reached more than (8872) orders, including new orders and renewal orders, including orders against children and women.

She explained that the ongoing arrest campaigns are accompanied by escalating crimes and violations, including: acts of abuse and severe beatings, threats against detainees and their families, in addition to widespread acts of vandalism and destruction in citizens’ homes, the seizure of vehicles, money, and gold jewelry, in addition to the widespread destruction of infrastructure, specifically in Tulkarm and its two camps, Jenin and its camp, the demolition of homes belonging to detainees’ families, and the use of members of their families as hostages, in addition to the use of detainees as human shields.

The total number of arrests since the beginning of the war of extermination includes all those who were arrested from their homes, through military checkpoints, those who were forced to surrender themselves under pressure, and those who were held hostage.

In addition to these arrest campaigns, the occupation forces carried out field executions, including of members of the detainees’ families.

It is noteworthy that the data related to arrests in the West Bank include those who were kept in detention by the occupation, and those who were later released.

The highest number of arrests were recorded in the Jerusalem and Hebron governorates.

After October 7, no less than (24) detainees whose identities were revealed and announced were martyred in the occupation prisons, in addition to dozens of detainees from Gaza who were martyred in prisons and camps, and the occupation did not disclose their identities and the circumstances of their martyrdom, in addition to dozens who were subjected to field executions.

It is noteworthy that (22) detainees who were martyred and announced since the beginning of the war of extermination have their bodies held, and they are among 33 detainees who were martyred and whose identities have been announced, and the occupation continues to hold their bodies.

These data do not include the number of arrests from Gaza, noting that the occupation admitted that it arrested more than 4,500 citizens from Gaza, hundreds of whom were released, noting that the occupation arrested hundreds of Gaza workers in the West Bank, in addition to citizens from Gaza who were in the West Bank for the purpose of treatment.

The number of detainees in the occupation prisons is more than (9900), until the beginning of September 2024, while the number of administrative detainees is (3323), and the number of those classified by the occupation prison administration from the Gaza detainees (as illegal combatants) who it recognized is (1612), noting that this data does not include all the detainees in Gaza, specifically those in the camps affiliated with the occupation army.

The number of female detainees whose identities are known is (93), including a pregnant woman: (Jihad Dar Nakhleh), and among them are (3) from Gaza whose identities are known and they are in (Al-Damon) prison, while the number of administrative detainees is (21). The aforementioned number of detainees does not include all detainees from Gaza, as there may be detainees in the camps affiliated with the occupation.

The number of child detainees is no less than (250).

Before October 7, the total number of detainees in prisons exceeded (5250), the number of female detainees (40), the number of children in prisons (170), and the number of administrators about (1320).
