Israeli occupation issues a 4-month administrative detention sentence against a child
The Israeli occupation authorities issued a four-month administrative detention order against the child Ammar Sobhi Abdel Karim (14 years old) from the town of Abwein, north of Ramallah.
The child's father told the official news agency, "Wafa", that the occupation forces stormed the house on the twenty-first of this month and detained his son Ammar in a room, interrogated him and assaulted him, which led to him suffering bruises and contusions, before arresting him and transferring him to the "Ofer" prison, adding that the occupation court issued an administrative detention order against his son for a period of 4 months.
According to Addameer Foundation, the child Ammar is one of more than 250 children in the occupation’s prisons, and one of 40 children who are held under arbitrary administrative detention, and he is the youngest of them. Over the years, the occupation authorities have used arbitrary administrative detention against all segments of Palestinian society as a tool of oppression and control.
The occupation authorities have escalated arrest operations and the use of the administrative detention policy against Palestinian detainees since the beginning of the aggression on October 7, 2023. Today, more than 3,400 administrative detainees are languishing in occupation prisons, as part of the policy of revenge and collective punishment practiced against the Palestinian people.
According to statistics issued by the Prisoners Club, the number of detainees in the occupation prisons reached about 9,900 detainees, until the beginning of August 2024, while the number of administrative detainees reached 3,432, and the number of cases of detention among children in the West Bank reached 720.
