Israeli occupation forces a Palestinian to demolish his home, south of Jerusalem
Today, Wednesday, the Israeli occupation authorities forced a Jerusalemite citizen to demolish his house in the Wadi Qaddum neighborhood in the town of Silwan, south of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, in occupied Jerusalem.
The occupation forces forced the citizen to demolish his house himself, as they notified him of the demolition order on the eighteenth of this month.
He added that 14 individuals have been living in the house since 2010, and that the occupation authorities forced him to pay fines in stages amounting to 120 thousand shekels.
It is noteworthy that the occupation authorities force Palestinian citizens, especially in the occupied city of Jerusalem, to demolish their homes themselves under the pretext of lack of a permit, in order to avoid the exorbitant sums imposed on them if their mechanisms carry out the demolition process.
The occupation municipality in Jerusalem refuses to grant Palestinians building permits, and demolishes or forces them to demolish their homes, in a procedure that contradicts international and humanitarian laws that guarantee the right to housing, as part of its systematic practices of forcibly displacing Palestinians, in exchange for expanding settlements in the city and its surroundings.
