WHO: 15,000 Palestinian children suffer from malnutrition in Gaza Strip

The World Health Organization said that thousands of children in Gaza are at risk of severe malnutrition, after discovering that about 15,000 children are suffering from malnutrition.

The organization explained in a statement, today, Saturday, that among these are 3,288 children suffering from severe malnutrition, after examining about 240,000 children in the sector since the beginning of this year, noting that it supports 4 facilities working in the field of treating malnutrition, including a center in the Martyr Kamal Adwan Hospital in the town of Beit Lahia, north of the sector.

A medical source at Kamal Adwan Hospital said: “We have, up until now, counted approximately 5,000 children, where one-third of the cases have symptoms of malnutrition,” noting that 25% of these cases did not undergo intensive treatment to be classified as malnutrition with complications.

He added: "The influx of cases with their complications means that this is a stop - God forbid - before death."
