Lazzarini: Some children burned to death yesterday in Gaza.. Is there any humanity left?

The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, considered on Wednesday that the Gaza Strip is no longer fit for children, after Israel targeted a school affiliated with the agency in Gaza City, asking: Is there any humanity left?

This came according to a statement by Lazzarini, published on the UN agency’s website, after the Israeli army targeted Salah al-Din School in Gaza City, which resulted in the martyrdom of two Palestinians and the injury of 15, including children.

Lazzarini said: “Reports indicated that another horrific attack occurred today, Wednesday, on an UNRWA school in Gaza City, which resulted in the killing and injury of children.”

He added: “Some children burned to death,” asking: “Is there any humanity left?”

Lazzarini stressed that “Gaza is no longer a place (fit) for children. They are the first victims of this cruel war. We cannot allow the unbearable to become the new norm.. Enough.. The ceasefire is long overdue.”

The United Nations had previously warned on Wednesday that “the ongoing Israeli military evacuation orders in Gaza threaten the people of the Strip with further forced displacement, which raises fears of the possibility of a disruption of vital services soon.”

Eyewitnesses also said that Israeli warplanes bombed Salah al-Din School in Gaza City, which is the ninth school housing displaced people and targeted by the Israeli army since the beginning of August.

Recently, Israeli evacuation orders for displaced Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have increased, especially in Khan Yunis in the southern part of the Strip, under the pretext of the presence of armed manifestations, which Hamas has repeatedly denied, while the displaced are wondering where they can go in light of the Israeli bombing that has affected most areas of the Strip.

Since October 7, Israel has been waging a war on Gaza with American support; it has resulted in more than 133,000 Palestinian martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 10,000 missing.

Tel Aviv continues the war, ignoring the UN Security Council resolutions to stop it immediately, and the International Court of Justice orders to take measures to prevent acts of genocide and to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
