King of Jordan: We will not accept the region being mortgaged to Israel's extremist policies
Jordan's King Abdullah II said that Jordan does not accept that the future of the region be held hostage by the policies of the "extreme right-wing" Israeli government.
This came during his meeting, today, Tuesday, with politicians and media professionals at Al Husseiniya Palace in the capital, Amman, according to a statement by the Royal Court.
The King pointed out "Jordan's efforts to reach a calm in the region," calling on "the active parties in the world to take immediate action to stop the aggression on Gaza, and the unilateral measures in the West Bank, specifically in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa Mosque, to avoid the region sliding into a regional war," according to the same statement.
He reiterated "Jordan's position rejecting attempts to displace our Palestinian brothers in the West Bank and Gaza."
He added: "We will not allow any escalation in the region to be at the expense of Jordanians or Jordan's security and safety, from any party."
He stressed the "importance of the role of politicians and media professionals in clarifying the facts and confronting any attempts at distortion."
