Israeli Newspaper: Israel does not sleep for fear of a new intifada

The Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said on Tuesday that before the bombing that took place the night before yesterday in Tel Aviv, the Intelligence Division issued a warning to the military and security level of the possibility of the situation in the West Bank deteriorating to the point of a new uprising during which "suicide" attacks might occur.

According to the newspaper, the attack in Tel Aviv is in fact another sign, one of many, that the warning of an expected armed escalation in the West Bank must be taken seriously.

She pointed to the increased spread of armed groups in different areas of the West Bank, not just the northern areas, specifically Jenin, Nablus and Tulkarm, noting the emergence of armed groups in the Jordan Valley.

She pointed out that there is an increase in the recruitment of militants in the West Bank for armed groups as a result of the continued Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, which increases the Palestinians' sense of the need to avenge the massacres committed there.

The scenario that worries the security establishment and prevents its men from sleeping is an organized plan for dozens of armed men from the northern West Bank to storm nearby settlements or unprotected settlement outposts, similar to what happened on October 7 on the borders of the Gaza Strip.

She said: The return of attacks from the West Bank and their arrival at the heart of Tel Aviv and Israel means reducing forces in Gaza and on all fronts because the West Bank is the most dangerous possible front.

She pointed out that all indications indicate that we will soon find ourselves on another full battle front on all fronts.

She saw the possibility of reaching a deal during which the ceasefire in Gaza would be an opportunity to reduce the escalation in the West Bank.
