Former Shin Bet official: The West Bank is boiling and pictures of weapons are on TikTok
Yossi Amrousi, a former official in the Israeli General Security Service (Shin Bet), said that "the situation in the West Bank is on fire, and the Shin Bet and the army are stopping major attacks every day."
Amrousi added in an interview with a Hebrew radio station that the updates facing Israeli security are represented by the attacks with explosive devices coming from Iran through the open border with Jordan, and there are also direct shooting attacks on the "Jenin envelope", and the current motivation is great motivation, including bombing operations.
He also said that the phenomenon of "illegal" Palestinian workers exists, and the Green Line is open, and these are challenges that the security services must deal with in the coming period so that the situation does not worsen.
He pointed out that "there has been a phenomenon of forming armed units for two or three years. In fact, organizational affiliation is not very important. You can find cells of Fatah, Hamas and Islamic Jihad members working together, receiving money, training and weapons. It is a social phenomenon. They become famous figures in the Palestinian street. They do not try to hide, but rather publish videos and receive a kind of appreciation and encouragement from the citizens.
The former security official expressed his support for the Israeli army's use of air strikes, calling for doubling and intensifying this activity. He said: "Everyone who carries a weapon in the West Bank must know that he will receive a 'gift from heaven.' They do this in order to harm the Israelis, and it is better to attack them as soon as possible."
He added: The person who was a policeman in the Palestinian Authority in the past may now be a 'terrorist.' They live next to each other, and from my point of view, these are Fatah members who decided to cross the lines and act against Israel.
Amrousi also commented on the phenomenon of Jewish terrorism, saying: "The events that took place in Givat Ronen and the village of Jit cannot be given legitimacy. It hurts me. I wish it was possible to close the Jewish terror unit, because it negatively affects the security efforts. Even the efforts of the army and the police, if there is an incident, the security forces must be alerted and let them deal with it. I understand the frustration, and I feel sorry that even someone who travels between Elon Moreh and his place of work must feel safe, but it is not permissible to take the law into his own hands. For me, this is very bad."
Amrousi also pointed out that "there are powerful explosive devices that the IDF is dealing with on the streets of Jenin, Nablus and Tulkarm, all of which came from Iran. It is a deadly phenomenon. The borders must be closed, as must the Green Line. Every day, thousands of illegal Palestinian workers enter Israel. The IDF is on alert, there are 14 battalions, but the cover is short and the challenges are enormous. We must also try to prevent smuggling from Jordan because it affects our lives."
In conclusion, he said: "The solution is continuous and ongoing fighting. The West Bank worries me as much as any other arena. We saw all these events on October 7, and we know that they have the desire to repeat them in Kfar Saba."
