4 Syrian were killed and 5 wounded in Israeli shelling in southern Lebanon
The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced this morning, Friday, that the death toll from an airstrike carried out by the Israeli occupation army yesterday evening, Thursday, targeting the town of Shama in the western sector of southern Lebanon, has risen to 4 Syrian in addition to 5 wounded Lebanese, including a woman.
Hezbollah announced last night that its fighters "launched dozens of Katyusha rockets at the settlement of Metzova" in the Western Galilee. It added that this came "in support of our steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their valiant and honorable resistance, and in response to the Israeli enemy's attack on the town of Shamaa and the martyrdom of a number of civilians there."
This coincides with expectations of an escalation in mutual attacks between Iran and Hezbollah on the one hand, and Israel on the other, after the assassination of the party's prominent leader, Fouad Shukr, on Tuesday evening, and the assassination of the head of the political bureau of the Hamas movement, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran, last Wednesday.
