Israeli occupation army returns a Palestinian prisoner who was subjected to brutal sexual torture to "Sde Teiman" prison
The occupation army returned a prisoner to "Sde Teiman" prison today, Thursday, where he was subjected to severe sexual torture by 9 soldiers.
The newspaper "Haaretz" reported that the occupation army returned the prisoner after his release from the hospital.
The newspaper indicated that the detainee is a company commander in Hamas, and was arrested during the Israeli ground maneuver in the Gaza Strip, and was detained in Ofer prison near Ramallah, then transferred to "Sde Teiman" on the pretext that he participated with 14 detainees in a prison rebellion.
The Israeli police arrested 9 soldiers suspected of torturing the Palestinian detainee.
Yesterday, the military court extended the detention of eight of the soldiers suspected of torturing the prisoner until next Sunday, but the soldiers' lawyer denied the suspicions against them, and some of the soldiers said that it is possible that the prisoner was injured during his interrogation by the Shin Bet, while the court rejected these allegations.
The newspaper reported that the military police investigators believe that the suspected soldiers caused the injury to the Palestinian detainee in the buttocks with a stick or something similar, and they suspect that the soldiers beat him and broke his ribs and that they were masked.
The Palestinian detainee was examined at the "Sde Teiman Hospital", and after it became clear that his injury was serious, a report was submitted to the detention facility, after which he was transferred to the hospital, and after he was treated he was returned to "Sde Teiman".
The military judge who extended the detention of the suspected soldiers, Toby Hart, said that not all of the soldiers participated in the injury to the Palestinian prisoner, but they were all partners in the "inner circle" and were aware of the torture.
The investigators' representative stressed before the court that contrary to the allegations of the suspected soldiers, the Palestinian detainee was not involved in an incident of violence at "Ofer" prison.
Physicians for Human Rights commented, “Returning the detainee to the clinic in Sde Teman, where he was tortured, is a serious ethical and professional failure on the part of the medical staff and the hospital administration who were involved in his medical treatment. With this decision, the medical staff exposed the detainee to the possibility that he would meet again with the soldiers suspected of carrying out the rape, thereby putting his life in danger.”
