Israeli occupation releases 7 Palestinian detainees from the Gaza Strip: Torture and abuse around the clock
Today, Thursday, the Israeli occupation authorities released 7 detainees, including two women, from the Gaza Strip.
The official news agency (Wafa) said that the released detainees were arrested during the occupation's ongoing aggression since October 7.
The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that it provided first aid to the released detainees in front of the "Kissovim" checkpoint east of Deir al-Balah, and transferred them to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital.
Two released detainees revealed the extent of torture, abuse and violations they were subjected to during their detention.
Citizen Muhammad al-Louh, one of those released, said that he spent 30 days in the occupation prisons, during which he was subjected to severe torture, continuous beatings, and electric shocks.
He added that the detainees are handcuffed and blindfolded around the clock, and are prevented from raising their heads. They are crammed into a narrow room that lacks the most basic necessities of life.
Also, citizen Mohammed Abu Shaar, one of those released, confirmed that he was subjected to torture by electric shocks several times during his detention, in addition to beatings, hanging, and sleep deprivation. The food provided was also poor in terms of quantity and quality.
During its ongoing aggression on the Gaza Strip since October 7, the occupation forces arrested hundreds of citizens during its ground invasion of the north, center, and south of the Strip. It released a number of them after detaining them for months, weeks, or several days, while the fate of a large number of them remains unknown.
During its ground invasion of Gaza, the occupation forces published several times horrific pictures and scenes of hundreds of people being arrested naked and detained in conditions that degrade human dignity, which constitutes an additional indicator of what is more dangerous and greater in terms of the level of crimes being committed against them.
About 10 days ago, the Authority’s lawyer, Khaled Muhajna, conveyed horrific testimonies from detainees from the Gaza Strip, during his visit to Ofer prison.
Muhajna reported that some of the detainees in Ofer were subjected to sexual assault after being stripped of their clothes and beaten in sensitive areas, and they are currently suffering from difficult health and psychological conditions.
He added that police dogs attack detainees and tear apart their bodies while their hands are tied behind their heads, in addition to being subjected to beatings and beatings.
He pointed out that there are more than 100 sick and wounded detainees without treatment, in light of severe overcrowding in the detention rooms, which are cement rooms that lack ventilation and are no more than five square meters in area, and contain iron beds without mattresses or blankets, and 25 detainees are held in each one of them, the majority of whom sleep on the floor.
He explained that the detainees eat while their hands are tied, and each detainee has one meal throughout the day, which consists of 100 grams of bread, a cucumber or tomato, and a very small amount of milk.
He explained that the bathroom is exposed inside the prison rooms, in addition to the presence of surveillance cameras inside the rooms directed at the bathrooms, while the shower time is still limited to only one minute.
Muhajna pointed out, quoting the detainees, that Ofer prison includes two torture wards inside the rooms, and the detainees cannot be seen during their torture, but only their screams can be heard. Recently, the occupation soldiers assaulted all the detainees in Ofer, which resulted in the breaking of the limbs of many of them.
Lawyer Muhajna quoted one of the detainees who was transferred from the "Sde Teiman" camp to "Ofer", saying that one of the sick detainees died after the occupation soldiers refused to provide him with the necessary treatment.
