EU provides 400 million euros in additional financial support to Palestine
The Palestinian government welcomed the European Union's response to its request to provide emergency financial support, which constitutes an important step to contribute to alleviating the stifling financial and economic crisis that our people are going through, which worsened after the Israeli aggression on Gaza.
The government said: After months of efforts, the European Commission agreed to provide emergency financial assistance worth 400 million euros in the form of grants and loans that will be disbursed in three installments over the coming months for multiple uses. As a contribution to alleviating the financial and economic crisis, it will be followed by additional deliberations to provide more financial support over the next two years.
The government considered that the European emergency aid package and the financial stability plan that will follow it represent an important basis for strengthening the efforts of national institutions in providing their services to citizens.
It confirmed that it is continuing its efforts to secure the joining of other international and Arab parties in efforts to improve the financial and economic situation in Palestine, so that it can fulfill its obligations towards public employees and service providers, and pave the way for a new phase of economic recovery, empowering the private sector, and addressing the problem of unemployment.
To ensure the achievement of the desired financial stability, and to complement efforts to improve the performance of the favorable legislative and institutional environment, the government stressed that it will continue to work on previous efforts to improve the performance of public institutions and the transparency of their work, improve the quality of services provided to citizens, raise the efficiency of the justice system, provide the necessary social care for our people, and combat unemployment. Improving the outcomes of the educational system and the level of health services.
In the same context, the government renewed its call to all international partners for more efforts and pressure to stop the war on our people in Gaza, the West Bank, and Jerusalem, to accelerate emergency relief operations, and to stop various Israeli measures, especially the continued deductions from tax clearance and delaying its payment, preventing workers’ access to their workplaces, and restrictions on movement. and movement, all of which constitute a violation of international and humanitarian law and signed agreements.
