"A humanitarian window on Gaza"... the Israeli strategy to exterminate entire families
The segment “A Special Humanitarian Window on Gaza,” broadcast by Al Jazeera, shed light on the Israeli occupation’s strategy to remove entire Palestinian families from civil records in the Gaza Strip.
In its war on the Gaza Strip, Israel exterminated thousands of Palestinian families, of whom there was no trace left in civil records. This is what happened earlier in the Nuseirat camp in the center of the Strip, as the Mohandiseen building was leveled to the ground, and its residents were buried under rubble. The result was that more than 20 families were erased. Entire civil records.
The occupation raids systematically target Palestinian homes in various areas of Gaza, resulting in the martyrdom of entire families, which is what Gazans from the Nuseirat camp spoke to Al Jazeera correspondent Hisham Zaqout, and one of them enumerated the names of well-known families whose members were all martyred as a result of the occupation army’s raids.
Al Jazeera's correspondent says that all indicators and investigations confirm that the Israeli occupation is practicing genocide against the residents of Gaza, which will have social, cultural and legal repercussions.
According to the Zaqout report presented by Al Jazeera, the occupation forces committed more than 3,000 massacres in Gaza, and in each massacre dozens of martyrs fell, often from the same family, including someone whose body was recovered, and many of whom are still under the rubble.
Commenting on the policy of systematic killing practiced by the occupation, Triestino Marinello, professor of international law at the University of Liverpool and a member of the legal team for victims of the war in Gaza before the International Criminal Court, confirms that what is happening in Gaza is unparalleled, and said that entire families have been almost completely wiped out. Daily, and most of its members are civilians.
Marinello confirmed - in a call with Al Jazeera - that killing civilians falls within war crimes according to international law and international humanitarian law, and is also part of the policy of extermination that is being examined as a crime against humanity, noting that the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court spoke about this, as well as the International Criminal Court. International Justice says that what is happening in Gaza amounts to a war of genocide and crimes against humanity.
He added that the Israeli occupation authorities in their current and previous wars against the Palestinians do not target military targets, but rather schools, refugee camps and religious centers, and do not provide any convincing evidence that these targets are military and not civilian.
Therefore - as Marinello says - “these crimes are considered war crimes and crimes against humanity and have no justification at all,” stressing that international law prohibits targeting civilians even if there may be a military target among them.
