Olmert: Israel will be tried and arrest warrants will be issued against its leaders

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert warned on Friday that "Tel Aviv will eventually be put on trial and arrest warrants will be issued against its political and military leaders," against the backdrop of crimes committed against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

He said in an article published in Haaretz newspaper, "Israel will not have any defense when it is accused of committing crimes against Palestinians in the West Bank."

In his article, Olmert ignores the massacres and crimes committed by Israel, the occupying power, during its ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip since last October, which claimed the lives of more than 126,000 martyrs and wounded, most of them children and women, as Israel faces accusations of committing genocide crimes against... international justice Court.

In parallel with the genocidal war it is waging against our people in the Gaza Strip, the occupation army and the colonialists are escalating their attacks in the West Bank, including occupied Jerusalem. Which led to the death of 573 citizens, including 138 children, since October, in addition to about 5,350 wounded.

Olmert added in his article: “I make this warning because if we continue to tolerate crimes against the Palestinians in the West Bank, serious and painful sanctions will be imposed on Israel, and we will not have a good defense.”

He added: "Everyone knows the reports about the settlers (..) who attack, plunder, destroy, burn and kill innocent people.."

He continued: "There are often Israeli police officers present during riots in these places, and it is impossible to obscure the facts that make many of them close one eye, and sometimes even two, when criminal acts are committed by Jewish rioters next to them."

Olmert asked: "How many of these rioters have been arrested? How many of them are brought to trial? How many of them are punished according to the seriousness of their actions? A marginal number."

He said: "None of this would have happened without the inspiration, support and support provided by the country's senior leaders, led by Itamar Ben Gvir, the TikTok minister who controls the government like a violent bully, and with him Bezalel Smotrich."

He added: "Smotrich and Ben Gvir support the settlement of Jewish settlers in the Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon... and for the sake of this imaginary goal, they are encouraging a comprehensive war in the north, which is an unnecessary and unjustified war."

He continued: "This government wants a war in the north to achieve its big dream: a war of all against all, mutual destruction, the expulsion of the Palestinians and the annexation of the Palestinian territories to Israel."

Olmert added: "I warn Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: the day is approaching when arrest warrants will be issued against you for the crimes that Israel commits every day in the West Bank, with the support of its government, while it deliberately turns a blind eye to them."

He said that in the West Bank, "crimes are committed on a daily basis (..) by rioters who are Israeli citizens, haters of Arabs, with the clear intention of expelling them from their homes and villages in which they have lived all their lives."

He added, addressing Netanyahu: “When these accusations are directed against you, Mr. Prime Minister, we will not find among us, or in the international arena that supports us, a single person with a conscience who can defend you.”

He continued: “I also warn Defense Minister Yoav Galant, against whom an arrest warrant will also be issued. He is responsible for security, and he can move and fight against the reckless policies of Netanyahu and Smotrich.”

He added: "I warn Ben Gvir, Minister of Threat, Incitement and Support for the Hill Youth, that you will not avoid arrest warrants (...) You will obtain arrest warrants from the International Criminal Court because of the responsibility you bear and of which you are proud."

Olmert also warned Smotrich against issuing an arrest warrant against him.

He said: "I warn the commanders of the police, border guards and the army. You will not be able to evade responsibility for the crimes committed against Palestinians in the Palestinian territories. Arrest orders will also be issued against you, and you will not have any real response."

He added: "Indeed, arrest warrants will be issued against the prime minister, the leaders, the ministers and the leaders personally - but it is the State of Israel that will be tried in the end."
