Hamas: We seek an agreement to stop the aggression, and Netanyahu increases the obstacles

On Monday, the Hamas movement accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of placing more obstacles in the way of negotiations aimed at reaching an agreement to stop the war on the Gaza Strip, and stressed that, for its part, it was offering “flexibility and positivity” in the process of reaching an agreement.

The movement said, in a statement: “At a time when Hamas is offering flexibility and positivity to facilitate reaching an agreement to stop the Israeli aggression, Netanyahu is placing more obstacles to the negotiations, escalating his aggression and crimes against our people, and intensifying his attempts to forcibly displace them in order to thwart all efforts to reach an agreement.” ".

The movement called on the mediators to "intervene to put an end to Netanyahu's tricks and crimes," calling on the international community and the United Nations to "stand up to their legal and humanitarian responsibilities and put pressure to stop the crime of genocide."

In this context, the movement considered "the Israeli army's escalation of its aggression against Gaza and forcing tens of thousands of residents to flee their homes under the weight of brutal bombardment, continuing the war of extermination that defies international laws and treaties."

Indirect negotiations, mediated by Egypt and Qatar, will take place in the Qatari capital, Doha, and the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in the coming days, between Israel and Hamas, to reach an agreement to exchange prisoners between the two sides, and a ceasefire in Gaza.

In the past two days, Hebrew media quoted unnamed Israeli sources as saying that the negotiations “may take a month.”

Over the course of months, and in the face of Israeli intransigence with American cover, mediation efforts did not succeed in reaching an agreement, as they were hampered by Netanyahu’s refusal to respond to Hamas’ demands to stop the war completely.
