Nihad Abu Ghosh: Israel is implementing a plan to resolve the conflict by force, not by negotiation
The Palestinian arena is witnessing a political stalemate as a result of the ongoing Israeli war of annihilation on the Gaza Strip for nine months. During these long months, the occupying state sought to resolve the conflict by force, but was unable. All of this comes amid the decline of political options to resolve the Palestinian issue, in light of the Israeli reality that It is controlled by the extreme right, which does not believe in a political solution with the Palestinians.
Writers and analysts, in separate conversations with Al-Quds.com, believe that American support for Israel increases the complexity of the situation, and they believe that getting out of this political stalemate requires achieving comprehensive national reconciliation, and unifying the Palestinian position on a clear political program, to confront the challenges plaguing the Palestinian issue.
A kind of military balance between the warring parties in Gaza
The writer and political analyst Dr. Ghassan Al-Khatib said that the political stalemate in the Gaza Strip is due to the existence of a kind of military balance between the combatants, noting that “the maturity of the military conflict may translate into a political situation and then lead to political negotiations, but Israel finds it difficult to achieve its goals, which means that we will witness during the next stage A continuation of the rounds of negotiations, without progress until one of the parties is able to achieve military progress.”
Regarding the relationship between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, Al-Khatib said: The political stalemate has been continuing for years, as a result of the transformations in the Israeli political structure, as Israel no longer accepts the principle of ending the occupation, and there is no longer room for a political process, stressing that the United States will not succeed in Achieving any political vision for the Palestinian issue despite its promises, due to this transformation.
Al-Khatib calls for the formation of a unified leadership and the adoption of a single vision
Al-Khatib explained that any Palestinian political action to confront the challenges will remain inadequate in light of the Palestinian division and the absence of a clear strategy, while he called for the formation of a unified leadership and the adoption of a single vision to reap the fruits of Palestinian sacrifices and heroism, stressing that arranging the Palestinian internal affairs in a unified manner is the main lever to achieve gains in Facing the other party.
Al-Masry: The American vision for a political solution is deficient
In turn, writer and political analyst Hani Al-Masry said: The political stagnation in the Palestinian reality is due to the continuation of the war, the features of which have become clearer, as each party seeks to achieve its goals by pressuring the other, indicating that the right-wing Israeli government seeks to establish “Greater Israel” and annex the West Bank. The West, and imposing displacement, seeks to prolong the war instead of providing solutions.
Al-Masry pointed out that the American vision regarding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has changed, as it began to call for stopping the war and talking about political prospects and integrating Israel into the region, and with Israel’s refusal, the American administration retreated to its vision becoming merely an exchange deal and stopping the war, without presenting any real plan.
He added: This American vision is hybrid and aims to mislead, pointing out that the American administration is a partner in supporting Israel and blesses its practices without permission.
There is no Israeli partner to achieve peace
Al-Masry stressed that despite the Palestinian flexibility, it did not lead to any agreement, but rather was met with an Israeli escalation, and there is no Israeli partner to achieve peace, and any talk about peace without one of the parties is worthless.
He stressed that getting out of the political stalemate requires developing a joint and clear political program, which includes a Palestinian vision for national liberation, and arranging the internal Palestinian situation on the basis of partnership and a unified vision, with Arab support to strengthen this vision in confronting Israel.
Al-Masry calls for a national reconciliation government
Al-Masry called for the formation of a national consensus government that represents everyone, with its reference being the Palestine Liberation Organization, the formation of a transitional Palestinian leadership until elections are held, and the restructuring of Palestinian institutions, especially the National Council, to pump new blood through elections wherever possible, stressing that the arrangement of the Palestinian internal house is done through... Pressure on leaders to achieve these ideas, not through appeals.
Abu Al-Ezz: Netanyahu seeks to justify his stay in power
Professor of International Relations at the Arab American University, writer and political analyst Dr. Amjad Abu Al-Ezz said: The political stalemate in the Gaza Strip is due to each party seeking to resolve the battle in its favor, in accordance with its vision of the results of the war on the next day, indicating that the Hamas movement seeks to preserve its political and military entity in light of the Israeli attacks and killing and destruction, aware of the threats of displacement. It is necessary to remove Israel from the Gaza Strip, but this contradicts Netanyahu’s goals of military survival and achieving victory in the war.
Abu Al-Ezz pointed out that Hamas’s agreement to the Israeli demands means its end, and it does not want that. Likewise, Netanyahu’s agreement to Hamas’ demands means its end, but he seeks to release the detainees and allow him to keep his army in Gaza so that he can return whenever he wants, pointing to a case of negotiations through playing games. In terms, Netanyahu wants to be able to justify his stay in power.
Pressure on authority
He added: The political stalemate in the West Bank is the result of pressure on the Palestinian Authority, especially in the so-called reform issues. The stagnation also comes from the absence of a peace partner in Israel with the escalation of the situation in Gaza and the West Bank, as well as because of American bias and the lack of an effective Arab role, in addition to the stagnation. Economic punishment for the Palestinian people.
Abu Al-Ezz stressed that breaking the political stalemate requires meeting Palestinian rights in all parts of Palestine, and achieving Palestinian national unity to confront the projects that are being prepared for the Palestinian cause, stressing the necessity of reforming the PLO and including the Hamas movement in it.
He said: The dispersion of goals leads to the dispersion of messages, which makes national unity a basic requirement for the current stage.
Yaghi: There are no political solutions without Palestinian reconciliation
For his part, writer and political analyst Firas Yaghi said: Whoever believes that there is an American political vision to solve the Palestinian crisis is delusional, pointing out that there are two reasons for the stagnation of the political situation in Palestine, which are: Israel’s lack of readiness for any political solutions, and its tendency toward the right and its rejection of the establishment of a Palestinian state. The American vision is also based on normalization with Saudi Arabia, a bet that failed after Saudi Arabia rejected any agreement without the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Yaghi stressed that what is required to get out of this political stalemate is to achieve Palestinian-Palestinian reconciliation and consensus, especially between the Hamas and Fatah movements, based on understanding about the concept of resistance and the resolutions of international legitimacy.
The PLO represents all Palestinians
Yaghi stressed the need for all Palestinian political parties to rise to the level of the stage, and for an agreement to be reached that the PLO will be representative of all Palestinians, which will restore hope to the Palestinian street with leaders capable of changing reality. Otherwise, the Palestinian Authority will remain vulnerable to Israeli blackmail, and Gaza will remain among the options. Multiple.
Yaghi stressed that the Chinese call for dialogue is an opportunity that must be exploited to achieve Palestinian consensus, stressing that there is flexibility on the part of Hamas that did not exist previously, which increases the possibility of consensus. He called on all parties to abandon their personal interests to achieve this consensus, otherwise the Palestinians will remain divided, and each party will work hard. One party alone in Gaza and the West Bank.
Abu Ghosh: America's political vision is theoretical and its support for Israel is practical
Writer and political analyst Nihad Abu Ghosh said that Israel is implementing a plan to resolve the conflict by force and not by negotiation, and that each party seeks to achieve its interests in this open war.
Abu Ghosh pointed out that the political vision that America talks about to resolve the conflict is far-fetched and theoretical, while American support for Israel is practical and tangible, while Palestinian rights remain merely theoretical ideas.
According to Abu Ghosh, Israel is facing unprecedented global solidarity with the Palestinian cause, but the Palestinian division remains a major obstacle, stressing that Palestinian political performance is still fragmented, and this global support must be invested in to achieve gains.
Palestine is once again on the global agenda
Abu Ghosh also indicated that the strategic situation is not in Israel’s favor, and that the Palestinian issue has returned to impose itself on the global agenda, as the countries of the world confirm that the establishment of a Palestinian state can be achieved through prior recognitions and not only through negotiations, indicating that the next stage of the conflict will be Difficult, but it can be managed efficiently through unifying Palestinian performance.
Forming a national consensus government and an emergency program
Abu Ghosh explained that what is required to break the stalemate is to reunite the Palestinian position on a unified political program in a way that strengthens the status of the Palestinian cause at all levels, and to form a national consensus government that adopts an emergency program and focuses on the reconstruction of Gaza, and to block the Israeli option of separating Gaza from the West Bank, and to represent... Everyone in the Palestinian national institutions is on the basis of the Palestinian people choosing their representatives, stressing that these institutions must be effective and have a real role, and not as is the current case, despite the urgent need for their role due to the war.
