“CNN”: A “framework agreement” for a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel is imminent.
The American CNN network said, “Israel and Hamas are approaching a framework agreement that guarantees a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of the hostages.”
CNN quoted an unnamed Israeli source familiar with the negotiations as saying, on Wednesday, that “Israel and Hamas are on the verge of reaching an agreement that defines the general framework of the Gaza ceasefire deal and the release of the hostages.”
The source said, “Israeli officials believe that Hamas’s recent response will enable the two parties to enter into detailed negotiations to reach an agreement.”
In addition, the Hamas movement presented its amendments to the latest Israeli paper in a way that does not affect the core issues, according to a special source for Al-Mayadeen TV.
According to the source, Hamas maintained its positions on establishing a permanent ceasefire, complete withdrawal, and the return of the displaced.
The Hamas movement insists on the necessity of withdrawing from the Philadelphia axis and the Rafah crossing, and it also insists on its position on refusing to place a “veto” on the release of those sentenced to life sentences.
The source said that the Hamas movement showed flexibility in dealing with items 8 and 14 to ensure the continuation of negotiations until a permanent ceasefire is reached.
In the same context, disagreements arose in the security and political system in Israel regarding progress towards concluding a prisoner exchange deal with Hamas.
Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper revealed that senior officials in the security establishment are extremely angry at the attempts of Netanyahu, those close to him, and ministers from the Israeli government, to thwart any deal that might be reached, even before Hamas responded positively, which arrived last night.
The newspaper says: The dispute began last night, before Hamas’ response arrived, when Netanyahu’s office issued through a security source that Hamas was sticking to its demands and there was no actual progress in the negotiations, but the security establishment was surprised that the statement was issued in its name without its knowledge.
The Hebrew newspaper reported that a security official said: This is an opportunity that cannot be rejected after Hamas’s positive response, and any rejection of it means sacrificing the detainees.
The newspaper added that the assassination of Hezbollah leader Muhammad Nimah Nasser yesterday will not change the party’s position, which will continue to fight until the ceasefire in Gaza.
