Biden's proposal for the Gaza war...an American disappointment caused by Gantz
Israeli Channel 12 reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office was not aware of the content of US President Joe Biden's speech regarding the proposal to end the war in Gaza, adding that the office received notice only half an hour before the speech.
Axios quoted an American official as saying, “On Friday, the White House informed Israeli War Cabinet Minister Benny Gantz and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant of Biden’s speech in which he revealed a proposal to end the war in Gaza, and provided them with general details about its content.”
“The White House was disappointed by Gantz’s initial reaction after receiving the information,” the official said.
Gantz's office and the Defense Minister's office did not comment on the matter.
On Friday, the US President announced a new proposal to stop the war in Gaza, which includes three stages, saying that “it is time to end this war.”
Biden's proposal
The first phase will last for 6 weeks, and includes a comprehensive ceasefire, and the withdrawal of the Israeli army from the main population centers in Gaza in exchange for the release of women, wounded and elderly hostages held by Hamas, hundreds of Palestinians from Israeli prisons, and the return of residents of the northern Gaza Strip to their areas.
If negotiations take longer than 6 weeks, the ceasefire will continue as long as the talks continue.
During the first phase, Israel will negotiate with Hamas to reach the second phase, which will see the war end permanently.
The second phase of the proposal will see the remaining living hostages released, while Israeli army forces withdraw from Gaza, the ceasefire continues, and humanitarian aid is raised at a rate of 600 trucks per day.
The third stage: A comprehensive reconstruction plan for Gaza will be implemented.
