Details of thedeath of the Egyptian soldier in Rafah: The killer is an Israeli sniper

On Monday evening, a security source revealed the details of the martyrdom of the Egyptian soldier in Rafah during an exchange of fire between the Egyptian and Israeli armies. The same source confirmed that the Egyptian soldier was martyred “by Israeli sniper bullets,” adding that the Egyptian forces “did not start shooting,” contrary to what Israeli media reported, citing sources in the occupation army, that Egyptian army soldiers began shooting from Rafah towards Israeli soldiers.

The military spokesman for the Egyptian army, Gharib Abdel Hafez Gharib, speaking about the martyrdom of the Egyptian soldier in Rafah by Israeli bullets, said, “The Egyptian armed forces are conducting an investigation by the competent authorities regarding the shooting incident in the border area in Rafah, which led to the martyrdom of one of the personnel in charge of insurance.” ". On the other hand, the Israeli occupation army stated that it was investigating reports of an exchange of fire between Israeli and Egyptian soldiers. He added in a statement: “A few hours ago (today, Monday), a shooting incident occurred on the Egyptian border. The incident is under review, and there are ongoing discussions with the Egyptians.”

The Israeli occupation army took control of the Palestinian side of the Rafah border crossing this month, while intensifying its military aggression against the region, which sparked criticism from Egypt, which had previously called on the occupation to “exercise the utmost restraint and move away from a policy of brinkmanship that has far-reaching effects.” "Range, which would threaten the fate of the strenuous efforts made to reach a sustainable truce inside the Gaza Strip."

The file of the Philadelphia Axis, which is the border strip between Egypt and the Gaza Strip, has been a source of concern for the corridors of Egyptian decision-making, amid fears about the scenarios proposed by the occupation for this axis, especially in light of the great contact that will be between the Egyptian army forces and the occupation army. This matter prompted Egypt to repeatedly warn against the occupation army storming the city of Rafah for several reasons, the most important of which is the presence of hundreds of thousands of displaced people in the city and the possibility of them heading to Sinai, as well as the danger to Egyptian security of Israel’s occupation of the Philadelphia Axis.

Since last February, the border area separating Egypt and the occupied Palestinian territories has witnessed measures taken by the Egyptian army to prevent any attacks or operations along the border with Israel from the Kerem Shalom area in the north to the Eilat area in the south. Egyptian sources explained these measures as coming in accordance with ongoing understandings with the Israeli occupation government, as they included a focus on educating Egyptian recruits, knowing that a large percentage of them are expatriates from the regions of Upper Egypt and the southern regions of Egypt, in order to ensure that they do not use weapons against the occupation army forces, similar to the operation. Which was carried out by their army colleague Mohamed Salah in June 2023.

On June 3, 2023, the Israeli occupation army announced that two soldiers and a female soldier were killed in a shooting near the border with Egypt, referring to the Egyptian conscript Mohamed Salah infiltrating the border through an emergency corridor designated for the passage of Israeli forces, and killing the three Israelis with his personal weapon, before he was killed. Clash with the occupation forces.

Tribal sources in Sinai said earlier that the Egyptian army has worked since the beginning of the war on Gaza to renew procedures to control the border area, through field and electronic measures. She pointed out that conscripts are also monitored through the Military Intelligence Service, which prevents them from using modern phones during their period of service on the border with Israel, and replaces them with old ones through which it is not possible to follow news, events, and what is happening inside the Gaza Strip, with the aim of not inciting the conscripts to carry out an operation. Like the one carried out by Mohamed Salah.
