Gantz continues to lead over Netanyahu in opinion polls
An Israeli opinion poll showed that the "National Unity" party headed by war government minister Benny Gantz would still lead the "Likud" party led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, if elections were held.
Based on the poll published by the Maariv newspaper on Friday, if elections were held today, the National Unity Party would obtain 29 of the 120 seats in the Knesset.
This represents a slight decline for the party, which obtained more than 30 seats in polls conducted in recent weeks.
On the other hand, the "Likud" party headed by Netanyahu gets 20 seats, while the "There is a Future" party headed by opposition leader Yair Lapid gets 14 seats.
The newspaper said: “In light of the dramatic events that took place this week, including Gantz’s warning to leave the government and the request to issue arrest warrants in the International Criminal Court against Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant, the coalition (the current government parties) continues to decline in popularity and stands at only 46 seats.” ", she said.
