Palestinian Minister: Israel has killed 3 percent of Gaza’s Christians since the beginning of the war

Today, Tuesday, Minister of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Farsin Agbekian Shaheen, briefed a delegation from the Churches for Peace in the Middle East, headed by the Executive Director of the organization, Reverend May Elise Cannon, on the latest developments.

During the meeting held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Ramallah, Minister Shaheen appreciated the organization’s position and its efforts to push for an immediate ceasefire, pressure the United States of America to withhold the supply of weapons to Israel, and solidarity and support for our people and their cause.

She said that genocide and the humanitarian catastrophe are continuing in the Gaza Strip, coinciding with the increase in the crimes of the colonialists and the Israeli occupation in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, stressing the necessity of stopping the war and the complete withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Gaza Strip, and the necessity of providing a clear political horizon, the most important of which is ending the Israeli occupation. And recognition of the sovereign Palestinian state.

She expressed her concern about the threat to the Palestinian Christian presence. Since the beginning of the war, the occupation has killed 3% of Christians in the Gaza Strip and demolished churches. It continues to restrict them in the West Bank, calling for more action and global pressure to stop the occupation’s aggression against our people in the Gaza Strip. And the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

In turn, Pastor Cannon stressed the necessity of an immediate ceasefire and withholding the supply of weapons to Israel, and that the organization is putting pressure on the United States of America, and continues to organize campaigns in support of the Palestinian cause.

It is noteworthy that Churches for Middle East Peace (CMEP) is a coalition of more than 30 churches and organizations, working to encourage American policies to achieve peace in the Middle East.
