Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prevents senior officials in his government from meeting with American officials, in an attempt to control the messages received by the administration of US President Joe Biden regarding the war on Gaza.

This came according to what was reported by the political correspondent of the American “Axios” and the Israeli “Walla” websites, today, Sunday. Quoting officials in the US administration, they considered that Netanyahu “is trying to prevent Washington from obtaining information about the war that conflicts with his plan.”

The report revealed that Netanyahu prevented the heads of the Mossad, David Barnea, and the Shin Bet, Ronen Bar, from meeting with the acting Chairman of the Intelligence Committee in the US Congress, Senator Marco Rubio, during his visit to Israel about three weeks ago.

The report pointed out that Netanyahu prevented the holding of many meetings and gatherings that were scheduled between Israeli security and intelligence officials and their counterparts in the Biden administration or in the US Congress, since the attack of last October 7.

American and Israeli officials believe that the reason Netanyahu is preventing these meetings from being held is his desire to control the content that members of Congress and senior officials in the Biden administration receive from Tel Aviv.

This comes against the backdrop of escalating tension in relations between the two sides against the backdrop of Netanyahu’s management of the war in Gaza.

The report stated that Senator Rubio, who is considered a great supporter of Israel, visited Israel during the Jewish Passover holiday, and requested to meet with the heads of Mossad and Shin Bet as part of his work as Vice Chairman of the Intelligence Committee in Congress.

During the visit, which took place at the end of last April, Netanyahu met with Rubio, but was not allowed to hold meetings with the leaders of the security and intelligence services. Netanyahu's office and Rubio's office declined to comment on what was contained in the report.

The report stressed that Netanyahu's decision in this regard was not directed personally against Rubio.

Senior American and Israeli officials said, “The ban on meetings comes against the backdrop of escalating suspicion, suspicion, and paranoia in the dealings between Netanyahu and the leaders of the security services since the beginning of the war,” according to the report.

Many security and intelligence leaders believe that Netanyahu's refusal to hold a strategic discussion about "the day after the war on Gaza (referring to the future of the Palestinian Strip) harms Israeli interests."

The officials went further, explaining that “some leaders of the security services believe that Netanyahu makes decisions driven by political considerations represented by his personal survival in power and not considerations of Israeli national security.”

The sources explained that Netanyahu is completely linked to the extremists in his government, Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben Gvir, who want to eliminate the Palestinian Authority and occupy the Gaza Strip.

The report explained that the meeting of the leaders of the security and intelligence services with American officials is not an exceptional matter. “Over the past decades, congressional delegations and senior White House officials visiting Israel have met with leaders of the security services.”

The report pointed out “a significant decrease in the number of meetings held by the heads of Mossad and Shin Bet with American officials since the start of the war,” as Netanyahu did not approve of only one meeting held by Barnea and Bar with members of the US Senate.

A senior American official confirmed that Washington had requested a meeting with the heads of the Mossad and Shin Bet several times since October 7, but Netanyahu prevented that. Netanyahu also prevented a meeting between the US Secretary of State and the Israeli Army Chief of Staff.
