Israeli Newspaper: It is time for the army generals to stand against Netanyahu
Followers were surprised by the Israeli occupation army’s announcement - yesterday, Sunday - that 50 of its officers and soldiers were wounded during battles in the Gaza Strip in one day, and that the deputy superintendent of the security system was wounded in battles in the Zaytoun neighborhood on Friday, which raises the announced number of its wounded since the beginning of the war to 3,415 wounded, including 526. Their wounds are serious.
The army was not satisfied with that, but also accused Benjamin Netanyahu's government of not exploiting the operational achievements in Gaza to achieve political progress, at a time when the Security Council's strategic policy official announced his resignation, due to the government's failure to take decisions regarding what they call "the day after the war."
According to a report published by Haaretz newspaper, this dispute that went public could have been a legitimate discussion about the management of the war, but going public in this way, or under the name of “high-ranking political sources” or “senior officers in the IDF” has many connotations that must be taken into account. Stop by.
The report added that resending forces to Jabalia for the second time, and a third time to the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, and other locations in the northern part of Gaza, demonstrates the seriousness of the absence of a strategy for ground war and “the day after the war.”
War without strategy
The Israeli newspaper report said that the time has come for the army generals to confront the Prime Minister regarding the lack of a strategy for after this ground war on Gaza, explaining that this is a discussion that is 7 months late, as it was supposed to be resolved from the beginning.
He added - holding the army commanders greatly responsible for the absence of this strategy - saying that the army now has clear reasons to blame Netanyahu, who did not miss an opportunity during the past months to blame the senior army and intelligence leaders for what happened on October 7 last year.
The report continued that the generals had always tried to convince Netanyahu and the War Council to provide them with a strategic framework since the beginning of the fighting, but their request was rejected every time, prompting the General Staff to form its own team to try to formulate its own strategic ideas.
He criticized the army leadership and said that it should have realized from the beginning that Netanyahu would not provide it with what it needed, and therefore that would have prompted it to make its military plans based on that.
Netanyahu's issue is political
The report explained that Netanyahu's main issue is political, not military, as he fears that the extremist parties within his ruling coalition will reject any proposal aimed at standing in the way of their dream of occupying Gaza forever, while his goal is to remain in power.
As for Netanyahu - the report continues - he is certain that there is no alternative force ready to control parts of Gaza. In fact, he has not begun any serious discussion about it with the potential candidates, and it has been indicated that they are either the Palestinian Authority or the “moderate Arab countries” without specifying them.
He pointed out that Netanyahu was not missing an opportunity to direct harsh criticism at those "who demand a strategy for the next day in Gaza while Hamas still has military power," describing them as "detached from reality."
He stressed that it is not possible to imagine the existence of an alternative force except after Hamas is militarily destroyed.
