Israeli army: 10 soldiers were injured in bombing at the Rafah crossing

On Monday evening, Israeli occupation army radio announced that 10 soldiers were injured in mortar shelling on the Rafah crossing area in the southern Gaza Strip.

The radio's military correspondent, Doron Kadosh, said: "Hamas fires mortar shells several times a day at army forces in the areas of the crossings and the corridor," referring to the "Netzarim" corridor that was established by the Israeli army in Gaza City and separates the north of the Strip from its south.

He added: Similar to the Kerem Shalom incident of mortar shelling on May 5 in the area adjacent to the Gaza Strip, which resulted in the killing of 4 soldiers and the wounding of 10, Hamas was once again able to carry out an attack that resulted in many casualties, this time at the Rafah crossing.

He pointed out that "the mortar attack on the Rafah crossing area left 10 casualties, including 3 serious and 6 moderate."

He pointed out that Hamas "targets the Israeli army forces stationed at the crossing, taking advantage of the stability of these forces in their positions."

A week ago, the Israeli occupation army began a military operation in Rafah, took control of the Palestinian side of the city’s crossing, and closed it, ignoring the escalating international warnings regarding that operation and its danger to the displaced Palestinians.

Earlier Monday, the Israeli army announced that 5 soldiers were injured during battles that took place in the Gaza Strip, in addition to 3 workers at a contracting company affiliated with the Ministry of Defense who “were on a mission in the region,” one of whom was seriously injured.

It is noteworthy that since the beginning of the war on Gaza on October 7, the announced death toll in the Israeli army reached 620 officers and soldiers, including 272 since the ground invasion of the Gaza Strip on the 27 of the same month, while the total number of injured officers and soldiers reached 3,434, including 1,674. Since the invasion of the Gaza Strip, according to the latest statistics published on the official army website.

Earlier Monday, the Israeli Air Force announced the transfer of wounded soldiers from the Gaza Strip to Beilinson Hospital in central Israel.

On a daily basis, Palestinian factions announce the killing and wounding of Israeli soldiers and the destruction of military vehicles, and broadcast video clips documenting some of their operations.

The Israeli authorities face local accusations of covering up a much larger toll of deaths and injuries among the army's ranks.

On the other hand, the Israeli war on Gaza left more than 113,000 dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and about 10,000 missing amid massive destruction and famine that claimed the lives of children and the elderly.

Israel continues the war despite the issuance of a resolution by the UN Security Council to stop the fighting immediately, and also despite the International Court of Justice demanding immediate measures to prevent acts of genocide and improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
