Today (Thursday), the Israeli army announced the start of a military campaign in the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood, south of Gaza City, the second in about three months.

The army spokesman, Avichai Adraee, said to the Arab media through his account on the (X) platform that the army forces, led by the 99th Division, began a military campaign in the Zaytoun area, and destroyed about 25 targets by air to clear the area for the forces operating in the field.

Among the targets attacked were military buildings, attack tunnels, reconnaissance sites, sniper sites, and other terrorist infrastructure, according to the statement.

The statement added that the army and Shin Bet will continue to work to dismantle terrorist infrastructure in the region.

For their part, Palestinian security sources and eyewitnesses reported that Israeli warplanes targeted a number of residential homes and infrastructure in the neighborhood since the early hours of the morning.

The sources told Xinhua News Agency that the intense raids, which resulted in the sounds of huge explosions, led to the death of a number of Palestinians and the injury of others.

This is the second time that the Israeli army launched a military campaign in Zaytoun, as the first was last February and lasted several weeks.
