Hamas reveals its conditions for accepting a truce with Israel
The media advisor to the head of the Hamas Political Bureau, Taher Al-Nono, commented on the recent truce proposal between the movement and Israel, explaining the basic points that will contribute to its implementation on the ground.
According to Al-Nono, the ceasefire agreement requires the implementation of four main goals, including Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip and the entry of humanitarian aid.
Al-Nono added that the Hamas movement is working to formulate its position on the ceasefire proposal before handing it over to the mediators.
Two Israeli officials announced earlier on Wednesday that Israel had agreed to several concessions related to the return of the Palestinians to the northern Gaza Strip.
Hamas reported on Tuesday that the latest proposal passed by Egyptian and Qatari mediators did not meet the demands, but that it would study it more deeply before responding.
Representatives of the Israeli government and Hamas met on Sunday in Cairo to conduct indirect negotiations through mediators from Egypt, the United States and Qatar, who presented this plan to them.
In the first phase, the new proposal stipulates the release of 42 Israeli hostages (including soldiers, children, and elderly women) in exchange for 800 to 900 Palestinians detained in Israeli prisons. In the second phase, all other hostages will be released, and the third and final phase stipulates the complete withdrawal of the Israeli army from the Gaza Strip lifting the blockade imposed by Israel since 2007.
