Trump wins the state of Iowa, and Biden considers him the most likely candidate to compete in the presidential elections

US President Joe Biden considered that the easy victory achieved by his predecessor, Donald Trump, in the primary elections in Iowa yesterday evening, Monday, makes him “clearly the most likely” to obtain the Republican nomination to compete in the presidential elections scheduled for next November.

In a post on his account on the X platform in which he called on his supporters to donate to his election campaign, Biden said, “It appears that Donald Trump has just won the state of Iowa. He is clearly the most likely candidate on the other side at this stage.”

Biden addressed an invitation to American voters, saying, "The elections will always be you and me versus the extremist Republicans."

Former US President Donald Trump achieved a resounding victory in the state of Iowa in the first elections held by the Republican Party to choose its candidate to run in the presidential elections this year, and confirmed his dominance over the party as it seeks to obtain a third nomination in a row and engage in another confrontation with Democratic President Joe Biden.

With nearly 90% of the votes counted, Trump received 50.9%, while Florida Governor Ron DeSantis received 21.4% and former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley received 19.0%, with the latter two competing to emerge as the main alternative to Trump.

Businessman Vivek Ramaswamy ended his presidential campaign after receiving just under 8% of the votes, and announced in a speech he delivered to his supporters his support for Trump.

Trump was on the verge of winning by an unprecedented margin in the Republican Party contest in Iowa, strengthening his argument that his candidacy is a foregone conclusion given his huge lead in national opinion polls even though he faces 4 criminal indictments.

In a speech he delivered before a crowd of his supporters in Des Moines, the capital of the state located in the American Midwest, the billionaire, known for his usually offensive speeches, said, “I believe that the time has come for everyone for our country to unite (...), whether they are Republicans, Democrats, liberals, or conservatives.”

He wrote on his social media platform (Truth Social): “Thank you, Iowa, I love you all.”
