UNICEF: Children’s injuries resulting from the Gaza war are “horrific”

James Elder, spokesman for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), said on Sunday that children's injuries as a result of the war in the Gaza Strip are "horrific."

This came in a video clip from a hospital in the southern Gaza Strip, which the organization published on its account on the “X” platform.

The video clip showed the conditions of many injured Gazan children who were transferred from the "Al-Shifa" Medical Complex in Gaza City to the "Nasser" Hospital in southern Gaza.

Elder said during the video clip: “I apologize for showing these horrific images of wounded children in Gaza, but since children have to endure this, it is necessary for the world to see what the children of Gaza are exposed to.”

He continued, "I spoke to one of the health workers about the challenges they face in treating the wounded."

He stressed that “UNICEF and other United Nations agencies, in cooperation with the Palestinian and Egyptian Red Crescent Societies, are delivering emergency medical supplies, food and water to local communities in Gaza.”

On Friday, a temporary humanitarian truce for 4 days, subject to extension, entered into force between Israel and the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip, with Qatari-Egyptian-American mediation.

For 48 days, until November 23, the Israeli army launched a devastating war on Gaza that left 14,854 Palestinian dead, including 6,150 children and more than 4,000 women, in addition to more than 36,000 wounded, including more than 75 Percent of children and women, according to the government media office in Gaza.
