Gallant: Any further negotiations with Hamas in Gaza will take place under fire
Israeli Security Minister Yoav Galant said today, Saturday, November 25, 2023, that any further negotiations with Hamas in Gaza will take place under fire, and that the Israeli army will not leave the Strip until all the hostages are recovered.
Gallant conducted a field assessment of the security conditions in the besieged Gaza Strip, in light of the temporary ceasefire that began yesterday, Friday, during which he stressed that the occupation army “will not leave the Gaza Strip until all the Israeli hostages” held by the resistance factions in the Gaza Strip are recovered.
Gallant said that the occupation army will take advantage of the truce days to "make more efforts to recover more hostages," expressing that any future negotiations that may take place through mediators with the Hamas movement to release more Israeli hostages and prisoners held by the Palestinian resistance will take place "under fire."
A statement issued by the Occupation Ministry of Security stated that Galant arrived in the northern areas of the Gaza Strip controlled by the Israeli army, via a naval ship belonging to the occupation army, accompanied by the Navy Commander, David Sa’ar Salamah. He conducted an assessment of the field situation and met with commanders and fighters from the infantry, armored and engineering forces. The navy operating in the Gaza Strip.
According to the statement, “Gallant insisted on exploiting the truce in favor of preparations for the resumption of ground operations while exhausting the broad outlines of the (agreement) to return the hostages. He also approved more offensive plans.” Gallant toured the northern coastal area (of the Gaza Strip), He reviewed the activities of the forces during the days of fighting, and their security during the days of the truce.”
Gallant claimed in his assessment of the situation in the Gaza Strip that “our ability to recover the first group of hostages is due to the pressure exerted by the army,” and said, “Once the military pressure is activated, they will seek (referring to the resistance factions) to stop, and when the pressure increases, they will want another break.” “And when you raise it more, they're willing to make an offer, and when you raise it more and more, they're willing to make an offer that they can accept, that's the whole way.”
He added, "We cannot abandon the operation and the war in Gaza until we reach a situation in which we recover all the hostages, and we have many of them." He continued, "There is a direct link between your work and eliminating the enemy, and between your work and bringing the hostages. This is the process that we are adopting."
He said, "The timetable for the truce is short. It will not take weeks, but rather days, a little more or a little less. Any further negotiations will take place under fire. That is, if they want to continue the discussion next time, it will happen while the bombs fall (on the Gaza Strip)." The forces fight, that's the basis."
