Jordan doesn't rule out war with Israel if Palestinians are expelled en masse
Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher Al-Khasawneh said today (Tuesday) that any attempts that would create conditions for the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza or the West Bank constitute a material breach of the peace agreement between Jordan and Israel, according to what was reported by the Arab World News Agency.
In a statement published by the Jordanian Prime Minister, Al-Khasawneh reiterated Jordan’s rejection of any such attempts, saying that they amount to “a declaration of war against us, as they constitute a material breach of the peace agreement.” This came during a meeting between the Jordanian Prime Minister and the Qatari Minister of International Cooperation, Lulwa Al Khater.
The day before yesterday, Jordanian King Abdullah II warned of the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, calling on the international community to stop this humanitarian disaster out of respect for international law and the Charter of the United Nations. He stressed that Israel's continuation of its hideous war on Gaza and its illegal violations in the West Bank and Jerusalem will lead to an explosion in the situation in the entire region. He reiterated the necessity of working seriously towards a political horizon for the Palestinian issue to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, pointing to the role of the European Union in this regard.
