Biden renews support for the two-state solution and warns against reoccupying Gaza
US President Joe Biden said that he made clear to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the two-state solution is the only way to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and that it would be a mistake to reoccupy Gaza.
Biden added - in a press conference in California after his meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping - that he is doing everything in his power to free those detained by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in Gaza, but this does not mean sending the American army.
Regarding the release of detainees held by the resistance, Biden confirmed that he is deeply involved in the negotiations efforts regarding the release of detainees, declaring that he is witnessing great cooperation from Qatar in this file.
The US President said that he called on Israel to be "extremely careful" in its military movements in Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest hospital in the Strip.
Regarding the occupation army’s storming of Al-Shifa Medical Complex, he said that Hamas committed a war crime by hiding its military headquarters under the hospital, considering that Israel did not enter a large number of forces into the hospital, he said.
Israel - which today again stormed the complex from its southern entrance - stated that its forces found weapons and combat equipment in Al-Shifa Hospital during an inspection, which Hamas described as a “fabricated story.”
Biden, who has shown great support for Israel since the beginning of the war, added, "The war will stop when Hamas loses the ability to kill and commit terrible acts against Israelis." "Let me be precise. We discussed the need for them to be very careful," he said.
Regarding the possibility of going to a truce, he stressed that it is “unrealistic” to expect Israel to stop its military operations in light of the threats of senior Hamas leaders that they intend to attack Israel again.
