Political thinker Shafiq: The current war is a second birth for the Zionist entity in the eyes of America and Israel

Political thinker Munir Shafiq said that the Israeli occupation army is now prepared to bear losses in tanks, armored vehicles, and soldiers, whatever they may be, because of the daily and rapid compensation from America and Europe, and because it views the current battle in the Gaza Strip as a war of existence and the second birth of the state of the Zionist entity, and it will go to its end no matter what the cost.

Shafiq added - in an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera Net - that there is almost general recognition - even by Israeli analysts and politicians - that “the occupation army, to date, has not achieved a single military achievement that can be mentioned or built upon in the ground war” that it launched in the Gaza Strip following the operation Al-Aqsa flood launched by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on October 7th.

The guest of Al Jazeera Net regretted the Arab position, and said, “I am surprised by the position of the Arab countries, which do not listen to their voice and do not have an influence, despite the capabilities and elements of power they possess.” He also pointed out that the American and Zionist mentality had never been in this state before October 7th: “They have lost their senses, they have lost any sense of politics, and they have lost any calculations for the future.”

And the details of the dialogue..

How do you view the war in Gaza, about 40 days after its outbreak?

In fact, I consider that what is happening in Gaza is practically two wars, not one war:

The first war, a war against civilians in particular, is painful, and it is in which the enemy is temporarily superior, because I believe that in the end it will turn against him because this blood will not be in vain, as blood has a very loud voice, and America will pay a heavy price by complicity and approval of this massacre, which continues daily Hour after hour, over the course of about 40 days without interruption.

Although the pain is strong, we must not let the sight of victims, destruction, and injustice make us lose our faith in the resistance, or lose our morale in victory, for we have entered into a war in which we must win.

The second war is the ground war, which I believe will decide the battle, and in which forces move on the ground and control places that shape the features and outcomes of the battle.

In general, so far the Palestinian people, the Palestinian cause and the resistance have won the battle of world public opinion, and this is a very important issue and not a simple one, and its results will be very great, even if it does not lead to a ceasefire decision yet.

The resistance has won the battle of world public opinion, and this is a very important issue, and its results will be great, even if it does not lead to a ceasefire decision.

In addition, what Israel lost in this war had never happened before in the history of its conflict with the Palestinian resistance in the wars of 2009, 2012, and 2014, and in the “Saif al-Quds” war, because its losses in the past were not equivalent to a quarter of a tenth of what it lost in this war so far. However, they were quick to stop the war. But the wound that occurred on October 7 is unimaginable. Remember how the Zionist army collapsed, and how US President Joe Biden and the European presidents rushed to support him, so that he would not fall to the ground.

What prospects await the war on Gaza? How far can the Palestinian resistance reach?

There is almost a general recognition, even by analysts and politicians in the Zionist entity, that the occupation army has not achieved, to date, a single military achievement that can be mentioned and based on a position in the ground war. Everything that has happened so far has been limited to the advance of the enemy army at a number of points inside the Gaza Strip. But most of them are agricultural areas, empty or destroyed as a result of bombing that wiped out entire neighborhoods or other areas to the ground.

Perhaps the most important thing he achieved in these points was his arrival at the Al-Shifa Complex after it was placed under fire and bombing. All of this, of course, is not considered an important military achievement, even though the occupation obtained field positions that it may benefit from in its subsequent advance.

This intervention, on the other hand, had a negative effect on Israel and a positive effect on the resistance at the same time, which was characterized by a well-thought-out defense, which is expressed in the science of war as “positive defense.” That is, the defense that moves to the attack after absorbing the enemy's attack in whole or in part, according to each situation.

In the case of war in Gaza, it has a peculiarity that distinguishes it, because a zero-sum conflict is in its interest and achieves what it seeks. Therefore, the military results achieved since the occupation army began storming and approaching the resistance is the loss of tanks, armored vehicles, and soldiers, and this was equivalent to about 10 armored vehicles per day, and if you count the number of soldiers and officers in each vehicle at a rate of 3 individuals, the daily toll will be between 20 and 30 dead and wounded, which is a high percentage that the Zionist army could not tolerate, a tenth of which it was known for in previous wars with the resistance in the Gaza Strip, or in the West Bank Or in Lebanon.

After the collapse of the Zionist army in the Gaza Strip with Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, and the resulting American and European reaction, and in the Zionist political and military leadership, it became prepared to bear losses in tanks and armor, whatever they were, due to the rapid daily American-European compensation, as if it were an air bridge. The same applies to the possibility of casualties in individuals, because they consider the current war a war of existence and a second birth for the state of the Zionist entity.

The current American and Zionist mentality is the need to restore respect, prestige, and unlimited revenge on the people of Gaza and to resist it, and this mentality is what makes them bear the losses they have suffered in the ground war so far.

If we base our assessment of the situation on the results of the ground war so far, the victory of the resistance is certain and certain, and of course taking into account what the operation of last October 7 demonstrated of a very high ability in leadership, planning, management and implementation, and the high degree of boldness and courage shown by the resistance training and intelligence.

The current American and Zionist mentality needs to restore respect and prestige and take unlimited revenge on the people of Gaza and resist it, and this mentality is what makes them bear the losses they have suffered in the ground war so far.

As for what the ceasefire will be like, what the so-called next day will be like, or what is said about displacement or deportation or arranging the situation in the Gaza Strip, all of it now falls either within the psychological warfare that suggests that America and the Zionist leadership will win, or suggests that what comes after the war is what US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is up to. All of this is of no importance now, and enters into a mental game of scenarios and assumptions, because what will happen after the war is determined by the distribution of forces after its end, as happens in all wars.

Why did the United States intervene with its weapons and soldiers alongside the occupation army in an unusual way in previous wars?

I see that the American mentality in general and Biden’s mentality in particular, as well as the Zionist mentality, had never been in this state before the seventh of last October. They had lost reason, lost any sense of politics, and lost any calculations for the future.

We know that the enemy may be a criminal, but he has rationality and has calculations for the balance of power and calculations of losses and gains, but now they have lost reason and all of these calculations. Otherwise, how could they enter this war against civilians with sound and video, and in this way that destroyed their reputation globally, and yet they persist to complete the war until the end.

I am surprised by the position of the Arab countries, which do not listen to their voice and have no influence, despite the oil they possess and a strong support represented by the Islamic world, which stands behind them.

Another important point: America entered with Israel in this war against Hamas, and left the war in Ukraine and its conflict with China and Russia, and wants to triumph over the resistance. Assuming that it succeeds in that, what will be the global outcome that will result from that? Russia will remain, China will remain, and the war in Ukraine will remain. Has Hamas turned into a global power that victory over it represents a change in the balance of global power? This is what I say is the hatred that filled their hearts after what happened in the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation.

How do you evaluate the Arab position after the recent extraordinary summit?

I believe in Arab unity, but I am surprised by the position of the Arab countries, which do not listen to their voice and do not have an influence, despite the oil they possess and a strong support represented by the Islamic world that stands behind them. This is unfortunate, and any efforts made so far remain an insufficient step and far less than what is required.
