US government prevents Palestinian Foreign Minister from making statements in Washington

The US government prevented Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki, a member of the Contact Group of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the League of Arab States, from making a statement during his discussions in Washington, DC.

The group members held a press conference at the Four Seasons Hotel in Washington.

After a journalist asked Al-Maliki a question, Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan began speaking and said, “Mr. Al-Maliki cannot answer your question, as the American government imposes restrictions on him, and he cannot communicate with the press.”

The contact group is expected to meet with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken.

It is planned that the group will go to Canada on Saturday to hold discussions.

The group was formed by a decision from the Arab Islamic Summit, in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, on November 11, to discuss ways to stop the war in Gaza.
