54 Injured, 18 Missing in Gas Plant Explosion in Northern Qatar

The Qatari Ministry of Interior announced today, Sunday, an explosion inside an industrial facility in the Ras Laffan area, located in the north of the country, noting that the incident resulted in 54 people sustaining injuries of varying degrees. In a related context, the Qatari International Search and Rescue Group, affiliated with the Internal Security Force (Lekhwiya), launched extensive operations in cooperation with civil defense teams to search for 18 people who went missing after the explosion. The company indicated that the explosion led to a fire at the site, but emergency response teams were able to intervene quickly, contain the flames, bring them under complete control, and prevent their spread to neighboring facilities.
