Rafah crossing was opened to transport the wounded and the exit of foreigners from the Gaza Strip for the first time

  1. For the first time since the start of the Israeli aggression on October 7, the Rafah crossing was opened today, Wednesday, to transport the wounded and the exit of foreigners from the Gaza Strip to Egypt.

An informed source told Reuters on Wednesday that Qatar mediated an agreement between Egypt, Israel and Hamas, in coordination with the United States, to allow the exit of foreign passport holders and some seriously injured people from the besieged Gaza Strip.

The source added that the timetable for how long the crossing will remain open has not yet been determined.

81 wounded people will be transferred from the Gaza Strip for treatment in Egyptian hospitals, and a number of foreign nationals will be allowed to travel, after movement at the crossing had been limited in recent days to bringing limited amounts of humanitarian aid into the Strip.

Media reported that dozens of foreign passport holders arrived at the Rafah land crossing in preparation for leaving the Gaza Strip towards Egypt.

Official Palestinian sources said that Egyptian ambulances headed to the Israeli Nitzana crossing to be searched before entering the Gaza Strip, and that they would be searched at the same crossing when they left carrying the wounded.
