A second aid convoy enters Gaza, including fuel tankers
Today, Sunday, a second convoy of aid crossed into the Gaza Strip through the Rafah border crossing with Egypt. The convoy includes 17 trucks that are supposed to enter the Gaza Strip after being inspected.
An official at the Rafah crossing confirmed the entry of the first trucks loaded with fuel since the outbreak of the Israeli war on Gaza 16 days ago.
Agence France-Presse quoted the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) as saying that 6 trucks loaded with fuel entered the Gaza Strip to operate electricity generators in hospitals.
The first convoy entered yesterday, Saturday, and included 20 trucks. The entry of this aid comes after an agreement between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his American counterpart, Joe Biden, after receiving the green light from Israel for the entry of this aid.
Cairo blamed Tel Aviv for closing the crossing and preventing any trucks from passing through it due to Israel's bombing of the crossing from the Palestinian side.
The Israeli occupation continues to target Gaza with intense air strikes that destroyed entire neighborhoods, killing 4,651 Palestinians, including 1,873 children and 1,023 women, and wounding 14,245, according to the Ministry of Health in the Strip. There are also an unspecified number of missing people under the rubble.
About 2.3 million Palestinians live in Gaza, suffering from extremely deteriorating living conditions, as a result of an ongoing siege on the Strip by the Israeli and Egyptian sides since the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) won the legislative elections in 2006, the first elections held in the Palestinian territories since the Oslo Accords.
