Defense Children International: Israeli shells kill an average of 120 Palestinian children every day
Defense for Children International (DCI)- Palestine said that the Israeli occupation forces killed at least 1,661 children, as a result of its ongoing aggression against the Gaza Strip since October 7, and 27 children in the West Bank during the same period, meaning an average of 120 children per day. .
Defense for Children International confirmed in a press statement today, Saturday, that the numbers of martyrs, including children, in the Gaza Strip are infinite, because there are about 1,400 people missing under the rubble of destroyed buildings, which indicates that the actual number of martyrs is much higher than that.
DCI indicated that the Palestinian children who have so far survived the intense Israeli bombing throughout the Gaza Strip are suffering from a major humanitarian crisis, which leads to an exacerbation of the nervous and psychological traumas that have existed for 16 years of the Israeli siege and military attacks on the Strip.
DCI pointed out that the trauma experienced by children in Gaza extends beyond personal suffering, as seeing the killing of other children exacerbates their plight, leaving indelible scars on their mental well-being. Likewise, the annihilation of entire families in the blink of an eye leads to the destruction of the foundations of These families, the children, who used to find safety and comfort in the arms of their families, are now orphans.
DCI stressed that the emotional repercussions for these children are profound, as they are not only suffering from the pain of the current situation, but also with the daunting challenge of how to complete their lives without the basic support of their families.
The United Nations estimates that about one million Palestinians in Gaza have been displaced, including more than 600,000 people who headed to the central and southern parts of the Strip, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
The Israeli occupation authorities cut off water supplies to Gaza on October 9, and Israeli air strikes destroyed several water lines. Since then, Gaza's three desalination plants have been forced to halt their operations, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. Therefore, the vast majority of Palestinians in Gaza cannot obtain clean drinking water, and some have resorted to drinking contaminated well water, which raises fears of the spread of diseases.
The occupation authorities also cut off electricity to the Strip, while Israeli air strikes destroyed two of the three main mobile communications lines in the Gaza Strip, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
The International Movement stated that its employees in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank are working to document violations against Palestinian children at the hands of the occupation forces and settlers, as the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people continues for the fifteenth day in a row.
