Israeli army: The post-war situation in Gaza will be a “global issue”

The military spokesman for the Israeli army, Daniel Hagari, said today (Tuesday) that the status of the Gaza Strip after the planned Israeli attack on the Palestinian Strip will be a “global issue” up for international discussion.

Hagari said, during a press conference, in response to a question about whether Israel will occupy the entire Strip or not: “We have all the final visions.” He added: “The Cabinet is also discussing what the matter could look like... This is also a global issue, what the situation will look like in this region.” Hagari indicated that the army “presented an action plan” to the Israeli Cabinet, but did not provide details.

He continued: “Gaza has borders with other countries... so when we say things related to the final status, these things will combine the orders of the political level and the army.”

Israel is preparing to launch a ground attack on the Gaza Strip, which is controlled by Hamas, in response to the attack launched by the movement on nearby towns and residential areas in southern Israel on October 7.

Israeli forces launched the heaviest bombing ever on the besieged Strip since the Hamas attack, and are mobilizing ground forces to launch an attack.

In 2005, Israel withdrew from Gaza and imposed a blockade in 2007, when the movement took over the Strip. The only crossing into Gaza that is not controlled by Israel is the Rafah crossing on the border with Egypt.
