Iran warns of possible “preemptive action” against Israel “in the coming hours”
Amir Abdollahian warned Monday that time is running out to “find political solutions” before the “widening” of the war between Israel and Hamas becomes “inevitable.”
Iran warned on Monday of a possible “preemptive measure” against Israel “in the coming hours,” while the Hebrew state is preparing to launch a ground attack on the Gaza Strip.
Tehran has previously repeatedly warned the Israeli army against launching a ground invasion into the Gaza Strip, which is subject to an applied siege, stressing that any such operation would be met with a response from other fronts, which raised fears of the expansion of the scope of the conflict and the involvement of other parties in it.
Amir Abdullahian warned Monday that time is running out to “find political solutions” before the “expanding” scope of the war between Israel and Hamas becomes “inevitable.”
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said in a television interview on Monday evening that “taking any preemptive measure in the coming hours is possible,” referring to his meeting with the Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi also warned, in a call with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, that a “ground attack” by the Israeli army on Gaza “will lead to a long, multi-front war,” according to a message published by his political advisor, Mohammad Jamshidi.
In the television interview, the Iranian Foreign Minister said, “The leaders of the resistance will not allow the Zionist entity to take any action in the region.”
He continued, "If we do not defend Gaza today, we must defend our cities" tomorrow.
