Saudi Arabia calls for urgent ministerial meeting of “Islamic Cooperation” on Gaza

Saudi Arabia, the Chairman of the Islamic Summit in its current session and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, called for an urgent extraordinary meeting of the Executive Committee at the ministerial level, to study the military escalation in Gaza and its surroundings and the worsening conditions that threaten civilians and the security and stability of the region.

For its part, the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation renewed its condemnation of the Israeli military aggression, which led to the death of hundreds of martyrs and wounded among the Palestinian people.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation stressed that the continuation of the Israeli occupation, its failure to adhere to international legitimacy resolutions, and the escalation of its attacks and daily crimes against the Palestinian people, their land and holy sites, and the deprivation of their legitimate rights are the main reason for instability.

The organization held the Israeli occupation responsible for the escalation, calling at the same time on the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities towards stopping the Israeli aggression, providing international protection for the Palestinian people, and sponsoring a serious political process in order to end the Israeli occupation, and embodying the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state. Its capital is East Jerusalem on the lines of June 4, 1967, and a just and comprehensive peace can be achieved on the basis of the vision of the two-state solution, in accordance with the resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
