Telephone call between Palestinian President and UN Secretary-General
A telephone call took place on Monday evening between the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.
His Excellency called on the United Nations to intervene immediately to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression against our people, especially in the Gaza Strip, where the occupation threatens to cut off the humanitarian needs guaranteed by international law and international legitimacy, such as the provision of water, electricity, and food.
His Excellency stressed the importance of delivering relief and medical aid to our people in the Gaza Strip, stressing the need for the United Nations to intervene to prevent a humanitarian disaster in the Strip, and the need to carry out its duties approved by international legitimacy to provide international protection for the Palestinian people.
The President also reiterated that the only solution to all the escalation taking place in the region is the political solution by ending the Israeli occupation of the land of the State of Palestine, with Jerusalem as its capital.
In turn, Guterres stressed that the United Nations is making efforts to provide urgent humanitarian relief aid to the people of the Gaza Strip, and to conduct contacts with all concerned international parties in order to stop the ongoing escalation.
