Israeli Knesset member Tibi proposes a law to punish infringes on religious symbols

MK Dr. Ahmed Al-Tibi, head of the Front and Arab for Change bloc, and the bloc’s deputies, presented a law proposal requiring that the punishment be doubled for those who harm feelings, religious symbols, clerics, or places of worship and religious places for all religions.

This proposal comes in the wake of the recent attacks and spitting on Christian worshipers in the Old City of Jerusalem, as well as attacks on Muslim women, removal of the hijab, and attacks on cemeteries.

He stressed that the aim of proposing this law is to limit attacks on various religious places, including mosques, churches, and synagogues, as well as religious symbols, including clerics, by doubling the penalty with the aim of forming a deterrent to the perpetrators of these crimes, and those who attempt to attack religious symbols or... Desecration of places of worship, cemeteries, religious clothing, and other places bearing a religious character.

Representative Tibi will present the law proposal, immediately after the end of the summer vacation and the beginning of the winter session of the Israeli Knesset in the middle of this month.
