Re-election of Palestine as Vice-President of General Assembly of Islamic Organization for Food Security
The State of Palestine, and the Republics of Bangladesh, Gambia and Tunisia were re-elected as Vice-Presidents of the General Assembly of the Islamic Organization for Food Security.
This came during the participation of the Palestinian International Cooperation Agency, represented by its Director General, Ambassador Imad Al-Zuhairi, in the work of the Sixth General Assembly of the Islamic Organization for Food Security, which was held in the Qatari capital, Doha, and organized by the Islamic Organization for Food Security and the government of the State of Qatar.
Al-Zuhairi stated that the conference, in which a number of governments, international organizations, specialized bodies and agencies participated, aims to strengthen food security policy in the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and it is an important opportunity to exchange proposals and recommendations aimed at raising the level of cooperation to achieve the desired goals, and to involve the civil sector in procedures. Enhancing food security and finding desired solutions for member states.
He added that the Assembly adopted a number of important decisions, including the election of the new office of the General Assembly of the Islamic Organization for Food Security, headed by the State of Qatar, as President of the General Assembly.
Al-Zuhairi pointed out that the conference was an occasion to hold bilateral meetings aimed at strengthening cooperation between the Palestinian Agency and other participating international parties, leading to achieving common goals, especially since the State of Palestine was one of the first countries to ratify the agreement establishing the Islamic Organization for Food Security.
