Two Palestinian prisoners continue their strike amid worsening health conditions
The two detainees, Kayed Al-Fafsous from Dura in Hebron, and Sultan Khalouf from Burqin in Jenin, continue their open hunger strike for the 46th day in a row, against their administrative detention, amid difficult health conditions.
The Prisoners' Club explained that the health status of the two prisoners, Fasfous and Khalouf, is getting worse with the passage of time, in light of the occupation authorities' refusal to deal with their demand to end their arbitrary administrative detention, the delay in transferring them to civilian hospitals, and their continued detention in cells.
It is noteworthy that Al-Fafsous is 34 years old, and the occupation had re-arrested him on 5/2/2023, administratively. He is a former prisoner who spent about 7 years in the occupation’s prisons. He began facing arrest in 2007, and he had gone on strike. Food at the end of May and the beginning of last June, and it lasted for 9 days. He also went on strike in 2021 against his administrative detention, and it lasted for (131) days, as well as in 2019, noting that all of his brothers were subjected to arrest, and today the occupation authorities are arresting four of his brothers alongside him. Administratively, all of them are former prisoners, and he is married and the father of a daughter.
As for the detainee Khalouf (42 years old), the occupation authorities are holding him in (Ramla Prison Clinic), and he suffers from difficult health conditions. He was transferred several times to a civil hospital, and the occupation authorities had re-arrested him on 8/3/2023, knowing that a warrant had been issued against him. Administrative detention for four months was confirmed. The occupation court also postponed issuing a decision on the appeal filed by his lawyer against his recent administrative detention.
The detainee, Khalouf, is a former prisoner who spent four and a half years in the occupation prisons. He went on a hunger strike in 2019, which lasted for 67 days, in rejection of his administrative detention.
