Israeli occupation closes Qalandiya checkpoint and tightens procedures in Jerusalem
On Friday morning, the Israeli occupation forces closed the Qalandiya checkpoint, north of occupied Jerusalem, and prevented the passage of vehicles and citizens.
Local sources reported that closing the checkpoint caused a severe traffic jam that reached several kilometers.
The sources indicated that the closure of the checkpoint coincided with the deployment of thousands of occupation police personnel in the neighborhoods of Jerusalem, who harassed citizens and those coming to perform Friday prayers in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, and tightened inspection procedures at the doors of the mosque and the gates of the Old City.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli occupation authorities decided to impose a comprehensive closure on the West Bank, including Jerusalem, and close the crossings in the Gaza Strip, starting this afternoon, under the pretext of Jewish holidays.
